I did pass a fit test once with beard intact, at a time when I was installing epoxy floors and exposed to a LOT of chemicals and solvents. Did over a million square feet of floors and built 2-1/2 boats (so far) with the beard on, and I'm not half as goofy as some of the clean-shaven guys who hang around here at Nick's place. Sure, it would be better to shave it off, but considering the relatively docile chemical involved, and the short time of exposure, you're probably OK with the whiskers.
