Hello Michael, If you are interested in a Greenland style paddle... I have built two using the information on the site below...

... they both were really easy to make. I used only cedar for the first paddle, which came out at 2lbs exactly. I was a little concerned about it being too light, so I made a second one using mahogany and pine. This came out at around 3 lbs. Both work fine, but the lighter one is nicer to use.
