I'm not so sure of that. To get the flex, you have to shave the blade pretty thin at the tip, and taper it evenly. At the fulcrum, where it broke, is really where the flex goes into the blade. The replacement I carved last night carries the beef further into the blades, and ends with a thicker tip (about 1/4" thick).

It's too bad, because I really like the feel of a little flex in the blade. I think it adds power into the end of the stroke, and lessens the shock on old joints a little. Perhaps I'll carve another one, and glass it.
