Thanx Jim,
Very clear and pretty much in line with what I was planning. One more question ifyou don't mind. When glassing the hull, what should be done to avoid epoxy and glass to adhere to the 'still on the forms' deck?
: It seems like a lot but you'll be fine once you get started. Plan and
: complete a step at a time. If you can't get to glassing within a day or
: after sealing it's not a disaster. If you go beyond Raka's recommended
: time between coats (you should check) it's just a little additional
: sanding or cleaning. You might be able to get seales and glassed within
: the same day, I don'r know Raka epoxy. The actual time applying epoxy
: coats is only 30-50 minutes or so (guess) but allow time to stay with it
: for a few hours, at least to look in on it, in case runs or bubbles or
: some other minor thing develops so you can deal with it immediately. None
: of these are any big deal before the epoxy starts to set-up.
: I've probably made most of the mistakes that can happen so in some way I
: suppose I can answer this for you.
: I would do it in this order.
: seal hull
: glass hull
: turn it up and seal the deck
: remove deck and then sand seal and glass the inside of the hull
: glass topside of deck
: sand seal and glass inside of deck
: Time allocation-
: In my opinion, it's a good idea to try to get both surfaces of one half
: glassed within a reasonably short period, even if that means glassing none
: of the other. One side glassed and one side raw leaves open the chance for
: changes in humidity to distort shape. If you get caught short of time and
: have to put it aside for a while put it back on forms and strap it
: together.
: Thin even coats, neatly applied.
