I'm not sure if the background is pine or spruce. The store keeps them together in the same spot. I bought the lightest colored board I could find, but it still came out sort of yellowish. I am using Raka though and it is more yellow than others. The stripes are WRC and redwood.

It's my basement. I had just remodeled that part last Christmas and still need to finish painting the door. I told my wife I was going to start building right after Christmas, so as soon as all the relatives went home I started building.

When I'm done with the kayak I have to go back to remodeling the house.

: What characteristics did you try to design into her?

After paddling Shawn's G18 I decided I wanted a kayak that handles like his, but I wanted to design my own. I was just playing around with bearboat and started getting good at using it so I started designing one. The bottom was V-shaped like the G18, but the draft I had at 275# was over 5 inches. I wanted it a little shallower, so when I raised the bottom it flattened out and became more square in the corners. My guess is that this boat will have good secondary stability and will turn real easily. Hopefully it will have acceptable tracking characteristics too. I can't wait to test it in the water.

BTW I took the plastic off of the hull and took the kayak outside for more pictures. I uploaded a few. Here's one.
