I am setting in the flooded kayak and it is extremely stable. It paddles about as fast as a row boat when flooded, so getting to shore in most cases befor hypothermia sets in wouldn't be a problem. My experience with my own canoe and how I couldn't use it for any kind of self rescue by myself is the reason I built my kayak this way. Also after reading "Sea-Kayaker Deep Trouble" I saw where many people died or nearly died close to shore because they couldn't stay in an unstable kayak filled with water. The paddle float intry was getting them into the boat but they couldn't stay in it let alone paddle and so they struggled with the boat until hyopthermia set in. As for rolling my boat, I think it is too wide and it wouldn't anyway with the side floatation compartments, I think. This works for me anyway and after doing it several times I feel safe. I also worked out a quick way to get the water out in a couple of minutes after getting to shore.
