hello there,
I did it to my Coho.
it works wonderful.
I don't think you need it for the floatation because you can install
simple thin light bulkheads & get the floatation.
the main disadvantage of the sectioned kayak is the weight.
I cut my boat to 3 pieces - that means 2 joints - & it's a lot of weight.
I used regular sandwich plywood - 12mm thick, that I found in a carpentry
dumpster. 2 bulkheads for each joint.
it's alot of work, & make sure you have A REALLY GOOD respirator when
you sand the fg strips inside the hull.
besides that I pretty much followed the directions on sk.
