Quite right. Played with it for a couple seasons, and recently replaced it with an ash "permanent" skeg, 5' long, tapering from 2" to 0". It's my youngest boy's boat, and he likes the hard tracking.
: Pete Rudie in Renton did the same thing. I think he used a piece of cedar,
: and it's also acting as a sacrificial rub strip.
