Wet the kayak down and you can get an idea of how the glue lines will look after you finish. If you think they take away from the looks of the boat, then cut them out and fill in. I used a Dremel tool with a cut off blade to cut out the places that I wanted to fill, then filled the slot with a sliver of wood that matched. I used flat jawed pliers to mash the slivers of wood so they would fit the slots. The glue swells them to fit tight . Sand them smooth and no one will ever know, unless you tell.
