this question is too hard to answer, really.

anything dangerous? sure, or course lots just in doing it.

if the good advice is to use regular ww yaks in real stuff and stripper for less rocky stuff,then use regular yaks for this. if the water is basic and simple class 2 or slightly above, maybe ok. and since its you making them for your sons who you care about, you'll probably do an ok job.

basically for ww, i'll over do the glass, w/ good vertical foam pillars running down the centreline, and i'll use it in higher water(less rocks) and situations i already have run before and know.
