: Better yet-how about a halo device used in post-surgical cervical patients?
: You could use the hard plastic cervical brace (with some modifications to
: the intra-cranial connections) to hold the orange plastic throw ring/hat
: brim/anti-capsizer. This takes the weight off of your head and transfers
: to head and shoulders. The only problem I see is that any type of neck
: brace will prevent you from turning your head for a better view of that
: oncoming jet ski to port... Now-where was that link for those mirrors? I
: think we're getting close to solving this.
Good idea! -- you could thread a couple fishing floats (the foam kind they use to keep the nets afloat) on the vertical posts, further increasing floatation.
AND -- how about turning the whole thing into a propeller beanie? A little propeller sticking out about 6 inches on top of the helmet would probably generate enough power to run the GPS, etc (reducing battery weight). If you used aluminum blades, then it would double as a radar reflector, making it safer when you are crossing shipping lanes..............
If nothing else, this sounds like the sort of headgear one could use in Port Townsend's annual Kinetic Skulpture Race held in October........ it would fit right in.
