: It is funny, when I told my girlfriend and dad aobut this new project, they
: said "WOW, when is it going to be done, a couple of years ?" I
: sensed some skepticism . . . and imagine that once it gets started, they
: will both jump in and want to help !!
When you start cutting forms they'll be a bit confused about what they are for. When you get the forms strung out on a strongback they'll be skeptical, and wonder about where the project is going - and why is it so gosh darn big?
But after you get about a dozen strips on the forms they'll see the sahpe starting to take form, and like you, me, and (most of) the rest of the people here, they will be entranced by the natural beauty of the wood and by the apparently flawless seams in the edge-glued strips. That wonder drops after a while as the stripd get covered with drips of stray glue, but when you get the sander going everything comes to fruition.
Good luck with your project. Take pictures as you go along. You'll be showing them to friends and acquaintances for wuite a while -- cause most of them are not going to believe you at first when you tell them that you built such a thing of beauty all by yourself.
