It was that thread that got me thinking about alternatives. The screws are just clamps so they can be backed out and plugged easily. I should have thought of the damage from sheers banging together, it's the same with canoes.

I still have to cover sheers with something, the edge of the decks strips shows varying thickness after fairing.
