Hey, thanks for the info and links, and if anyone knows of a place where a novice can try out a few sprint boat designs and perhaps learn something about racing technique, please send it along.
As a longtime runner and xc ski racer, I'm really enjoying kayaking. Mostly easy to moderate stuff as I learn, but from time to time I can't help but give in to that "need for speed." I do love my Pygmy Osprey HP, particularly the way it slices through flatwater. But I'm hesitant to try building anything much faster, narrower or more single-purpose unless I am really comfortable in such a boat, and know that I'd actually like that style of paddling.
Anyway, I'm lucky to be in New Hampshire, where paddling even a plastic tugboat offers a tremendous amount of fun and fantastic variety. This morning, the Seacoast. This afternoon, a river through the mountains!
Anyone with a CLC Pax or other quick boat willing to offer a test drive? I'm in the Concord area.
