I've got a few questions about varnishing my Coho - sorry, I'm being lazy here, I didn't search through the BBS archives.

I need to sand my Coho, to remove some glass blotches - should I lightly rough up the entire hull?

How much varnish will I need (17"6' length) - 1 quart? 1 gallon?

And basic tips and suggestions for varnishing? Brush types, brush strokes, etc?

I'm not looking for a very high-gloss finish, just something that keeps my boat looking nice, and provides some UV protection.
