Yeah, a lot of debate over that one. I think it has a lot to do with where the boat will go. Around here, 1' chop is rough. Mostly flat lakes, ponds and wide rivers. If you are looking for more adventure, e.g. an ocean :-), then lashing is obviously a proven technique. The flex in those conditions seems to be an overall advantage of the SOF. There has been some talk also of using flexable construction adhesive instead of epoxy. I don't know if this has been done, though. If I had known more about SOF at the time, I probably would have considered it. Since I seem to have developed a habit of building these things, it will probably appear in the next iteration. In the mean time, it will be interesting to see how well this one holds up.
