No holes please!!
Easy solution to this: Get two plastic padeyes for each hatch. Make up some epoxy thickened to a putty consistancy. Put a blob of this stuff on your hatch cover. (Close to the middle is best to stay out of the way of the gasket) and sink a padeye in it so the putty oozes up through the padeye holes. Let it harden. do the same at a point inside the boat. put a length of cord through both padeyes with a knot to hold both ends in place. You are all set.

Just thought I'd ask for some opinions/suggestions - I'd like to add a
: "leash" to the hatch covers on my Coho, so that I don't have to
: worry about misplacing them, or having them slip into the water and float
: away as I'm unpacking my kayak.
: This could be an obvious answer; just drill a hole through the hull and the
: hatch, add some type of screw, and then connect with bungee - bingo, I'm
: done. But before I start messing up that pretty deck, I thought I'd see if
: anyone else had other ideas.
: FYI, the Coho uses a lip on which the hatch sits, so that the hatch is flush
: mounted.
: Any suggestions are appreciated!
: TIA
