: I'm building a Cheasapeake 17 and am getting ready to install the Sealline
: rudder system. All is well explained and obvious except the mounting
: height of the pedals. Does anyone have any experience with this system and
: could give me some insight?
: I guess I need to know more about how ergonomically the pedal works. At what
: point does the foot touch the lower stationary pad and what part operates
: the upper moveable pad.
Marty,
I recently installed this system into a BearMountain Reliance Tandem
Kayak. The advice I was given by Jerry Lloyd from Seal Line was that the
pedals need to be approx 2"-3" lower than a set of "normal pedals". For
the couple I built the Tandem for this turned out to be 3" below the sheer
line. As for foot contact the ball of your foot should cotact the bracing
pedal and your toes should contact the "Toe pilot control". At the link
listed below you can find photos of the installation I did, scroll down
through the photos until you come to the rudder controls.
