Well, this depends on how you paddle your boats, the fabric used, and how you store things. Some people will argue that these boats will be tougher and survive an encounter with rocks better than FG. I can tell you I accidentally hit the skin with a high speed drum sander on my drill (80 grit!) and it bounced off and only left a minor scuff mark. The polyester I used is pretty tough. It is 9 oz. Mike Hanks has a 9 oz poly that is a tighter weave and is even tougher. There are even heavier weight fabrics (15 oz) around also that you could armor a tank with. Even so, I wouldn't recommend storing the boat in full sun and it is probably a good idea to dry the boat out good after each use. Some people use fans to facilitate this.
