i agree that attaching the paddle to the paddler could cause safety issues.
let her play with your greenlander to see if she is comfortable with how it feels with her hand about two feet from the tip of the blade. i tried this in my living room, trying to imitate your description of her hand. i found my grip to be quite strong. if she feels o.k. with this, take her for a short trip. with you in your second boat c/w tow-line (just in case). if this works build her a paddle that has a loom shaped like the mid-section of the blade. the same idea might be used to build a euro-blade paddle. shape the shaft to fit the hand.
you have a rare opertunity here. get her on the water!! heck, i'll build the paddle! free!
