Hey Pete
Kool of you to try and figure this out for a fellow paddler. Have you seen some of the Bowlers Wrist stiffeners. They velcro around the write and have a steel plate running up the wrist and into the curve of the palm. The hand is covered with the glove as well but there are no fingers in the glove. With the plate rebent away from the palm, or semply turned around in the wrist band and curved in the opposite direction, the paddle loom could fit between the palm and steel plate. Pressure being applied by the palm would hold the loom and relaxing the pressure, the paddle could be released in an emergency.
The going price on some of these gloves is from $15.00 to around $40.00, but the cheaper ones are the ones I would try.
