Dave,
I installed the sheer clamp to the hull panel, and then planed it to match the deck beam radiuses. I temporarily (screwed) some extra deck beams to the sheer clamps and then just stapled strips to deck beams and bulkheads and shear clamps. Finished stripping the decks today and it worked great. After I get the deck planned and sanded, will just glue it to the shear clamps. If need be, I might just put some staples into the deck to hold it down till epoxy drys. Not to worried about staple holes showing as they are lots of them from stripping it anyway. Used the same procedure on the Mill Creek I made. Deck is a bit different, but seems to be working good so far. If I get a chance, I'll try to put some pictures up to show the deck beams and stripping. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
: Tom, I just started a Cormorant 16 and plan to strip the deck. How did you
: handle the shear? Did you glue shear clamps to the hull panels? I plan to
: paint the hull and varnish the deck and to install rub rails. So I want
: the deck strip to extend over and cover the raw plywood edge of the hull
: side panel. I'm currently thinking just glue in shear clamps a la a
: plywood deck and plane them to shape after installing some temporary deck
: beams to use as forms. Your thoughts?
: Dave
