Thanks, I'm sure that is sound advice. After I posted this, I searched the BBS and found some detailed discussions about wood types for a Greenland stick. Everything from scrounging the dumpster to using exotic laminated layups. It seems that nearly any wood will do. Clearly, the first one won't be my last.

I'm going to head out to the lumberyard and bring something home today and start carving.
