: I am going to construct a strip-built wood kayak. I am curious as to what the
: users of this board would incorporate into their 'ideal yak'. I am looking
: for ideas that would be built into the boat, rather than aftermarket
: add-ons. I mostly paddle coastal water and large lakes. One thing I had
: thought of is to add the hardware to adapt a sail rig (possibly the CLC
: rig). Thank all.
- Built in water bottle holder behind and to the side of the cockpit.
- GPS holder in front of cockpit.
- Foot pump bilge pump (I've seen some nice setups posted.)
- Small sealable/lockable stowage compartment opposite side of water bottle.
- Custom cockpit just big enough to fit me. This is to keep the amount of water I can take on to a minimum.
- Built in compass.
- And now for the ultimate accessory-----Running lights
