: Better models have the recripricating blade option which makes the blade go
: not only up and down but circular as well. This is an enormous difference
: and makes the saw cut like butter. The newer league of blades by major
: manufacturers are a great. DeWalt. PC etc. the are cut with a wierd kerf
: on both sides and come in better steel and are well worth it. I have the
: DeWalt that blows out air and clears the sawdust, variable speed etc.
: $124. I'm glad I bought it because I use it for everything - stud saw etc.
: but for thin plywood, you could probably get away with the old one as
: someone else said. New toys are fun.
Working in the housing construction industry, I learned that certain brands are known for outstanding performance in specific tools. Milwaukee is known for it's Sawzall and power drills, Delta, for table saws and planers, Porter Cable for belt sanders and Bosch for jig or sabre saws.
Bosch's jig saw is so powerful and accurate, has so many features it is the standard by which the others are judged. This saw does stuff you would never beleive a jig saw could do like cut through 2" stock and leave a smooth accurate edge.
It's worth every penny and will last forever.
All the best,
Rob Macks
