Thanks for the information. For those who are interested, next year, the Greenland National Kayaking Championship (QU-2002) will be held in Illulissat, in the Disko Bay region. I am hoping to attend. The Greenlanders rave about the beauty of the area. Anyone can visit, participants are required to use a Greenland-style paddle. From your description, I wonder if my favorite cedar paddle will survive the week, it got fairly banged up in the ice around Qoornoq (Nuuk area) last year. I might need to make a new one with ash edges. I also learned the hard way (literally) that its wise to search for chunks of partially submerged ice, before you start roll practice...

I'll post more information on QU-2002 as it becomes available.
