Forget the expensive blue tape; use fresh (tan) masking tape. Wrap it around the strip to secure it in place and glue your next strip right over the (tan) masking tape. When you are done striping, just strip off all the unnecessary masking tape. You leave pieces of tape between the strips, you can't see them when you're done sanding and glassing.
