I'll ditto everything Daren is saying. with one addition. When you first look at that combing design you may think its the weakest link in the boat. ( I sure did) All those little scraps of wood..... Hot glue.... I was pretty skeptical. However, after its under glasss, its actually one of the strongest parts of the boat.

Changing the dimensions a little won't impact the over all strength very much.

I did a whole lot of alteration on my combing. widdening the back. Lengthening it a bit. I gave it an inch for a wall. Skinnying up the front. I made it so my combing walls aren't even straight up and down. I made the front lay over sharply. I did this by building up two and in some spots 3 layers of strips in those places and then with a Japenese rasp sanded in the incline. For all of that monkeying its still pretty bomb proof. Yours will be too. :)

Ah well I'm off to paddle Cape Nedic Light tommorrow. guess I had better Monkey on my cockpit covers and moving my roof rack over. :) Good luck
