Mark, my two cents here is it depends primarily on how long your legs are and what kind of purchase you can make with your thighs. The coho I made for a 5'8" friend has too large of a cockpit for comfortable control with just minicell knee braces. I'd go for the thigh braces even if you were 6ft+. Another area of easy outfitting are planetary gear hip braces, kind of gimmicky but I don't know of anything more convenient for getting a snug fit (might help compensate for marginal knee/thigh braces) but easy to remove for different sized people.
