In Response To: scarf jig ? (Clint)
I can recommend the Chris K. method with one caveat. I used a borrowed belt sander to remove most of the material and get "close." I finished up with a good, sharp low-angle block plane.
Added Tip: When gluing up a scarf joint, I always pre-coat the end grain of the joint with unthickened epoxy and let it soak in a bit before applying thickened epoxy and clamping. This seems to create a much stronger joint (prevents "starving").
