I have had great success with this type of block..."u" shaped actually, so I can wedge the strip down in two directions at once, but I use drywall screws rather than clamps to hold them in place.
Just run a screw through the block into the form once everything is in place. Ain't nothin gonna move then. These screws are my favourite temporary fastener!! Oh yes, use a power screwdriver too, makes it quick and easy
