: After reading a Sea Kayaking book which suggests that the right way to get
: into a kayak is to sit on rear rim of the cocpit then slide your feet into
: the kayak and then sliding your torso deeper into the kayak until sitting
: - I am wondering - will the CLC be able to support a 240 pound guy like me
: or will it crack ?
Rather than sit on the rim, why not try the butt first method? I have tried every "proper method" suggested by books, videos, and instructors but found I like to straddle the boat and just sit in the seat, bringing one leg in at a time. This method keeps one or both feet planted on the bottom till the last moment as well as lowering my center of gravity quickly.
Your mileage may vary, but it's the method that works for me.
