If you really wants to save money (with super low profile to boot) check out CLC. CLC web recommends folding a loop of webbing and screw that onto the yak.
Another outfitter simply drills holes into the deck, epoxy coated the hole and runs bunggie cords through the holes -- Leaks? apparently not much water gets in.
