Well said Rick, reinventing the wheel and the boat takes on it's own personality is right on.

Travis, if you have the time you can sort through lot of cedar at the large hardware lumber store such as Lowes and Manards and get a heck of a bargain. I did the best at Manards. I got all of my red cedar and pine for $43 and had lot of strips left over. I had $150 in epoxy and $100 in 6 oz. fiberglass, $12 for a gallon of yellow glue. But there are a lot of side expences like tools, sandpaper, tape and so on that just kind of happen along the way, but its worth it.
