Finally I can answer a question instead of asking. Your price is about right. If you live in a coastal area you will probably find a lot more places to buy clear cedar or redwood. I live in west Tennessee and I finally had to settle on redwood with white pine accent strips. You should see the horrible cedar boards I had to sort through. HOWEVER, getting the wood ripped and routed was very time consuming and I screwed up a few good strips. I was renting a professional shop with Delta machinery. It's very hard putting a bead on a little strip of wood. I recommend paying the extra money and buying ready-made strips if you don't have access to good machinery and someone to help you. That's my personal opinion and many may object to it. I am putting my wood aside for now and buying cedar strips ready made. Are you sitting down??? It may cost up to 45 cents per foot for 20' lengths, less for shorter lengths. My Atlantic 19 will take about 1200 linear feet, but it's a big boat. Newfound Woodworks has strips in many shapes, sizes, and woods. They can tell you how many feet you need for your particular boat. They can supply you with 1/4" or 1/2" (for tight radius) strips and can give you a some "flat-edged" strips for where the deck and hull meet. They charge $45 packing fee and shipping costs to Tennessee are going to cost me $85. (I think that's the price they quoted.) Hope that helps. You will get about 20 different opinions on this subject, but if you can afford ready-made strips it saves a whole lot of headache. Again, it depends on where you live as far as ability to find good wood to rip your own. Good luck.
