Where do you live. Is it impossible for a friend to mail you a few boards via UPS? Redwood or cedar is routinely used for decking. Mine came from a torn down fence that had never painted. The bottom 6 inches has rotted away but the top 6 to 7 feet are still in pretty good condition and after many years of seasons is well dried. I have cut them into thin strips and getting ready for the SB canoe.
