: Do you know if a regular plastic CD works as a mirror ?

I just had my cat chasing the beam 200' away from the house with one of the 500 free hour CDs

: it's made of palstic so it doesn't brake & it doesn't tear
: any waterproof bags.

: it has hole in the middle.

: it isn't completely reflective, & I'm not sure if it's large enough.

We use the mirrors on our Silva Ranger compass to signal each other when setting up traverse lines when we are surveying, 1/4 the size of a CD.

: if it does work, then we will finally find a use for the 500 hours free

They make darned good coasters for drinks:-)

Check out National Fisherman, there are usually a number of knives advertised that will work very well for this purpose.

Thanks for the tip about using a CD as a mirror my neighbor is going across the bay tomorrow I'll give it a whirl then and report back on how far it is visible.
