We've got a Total Gym 2000 and it works great for paddling training. DON'T buy the one for $99 in the sporting goods stores...it not nearly as good or well-built as the mail order version from Total Gym. I sit on it facing down the incline and set it on low resistance so I can do the exercise for 10 minute intervals. I punch forward with one hand/arm then the other while twisting my torso. It's a great workout and it's helping me build body memory for pushing instead of pulling the paddle.
