now you're the guy that knows whats going on -some questions for when i glass

-would it have been any help to put the yak on its side and do one half the coaming, then flip and do the other half?
- could you do the half layup and then tape(maybe even 2in wide clear tape) over the whole thing and squeeze out extra glass and ridges before setup? or saran wrap way over so you could sqeeze out
-would hotgluing littl scraps of strips aroung the perimeter and use thumbtacks to help hold the glass be any use
- if you had used really thick(say 4layers) of masking under the coaming where you don't want any glass to go - could you have just planed off the excess because of the ridge?

for the colour, when you do the under curve, just add some pigment to that glass and you'll only have only the thin edge to consider - call it a subtle design rim line. it'll probably look way cool.

another thought is to lay it up on the bias but longer strips around the perimeter - say 4in by 12in or so overlapped - and use hot glue all along the inside(like a continuous unbroken line for a stop) as the mask and attatchmt. pull all the layers up over and tape/glue/tack(to some scrap). maybe could even wet the glass after all in place(probably hard to wet all out).

i know you can get different strenghts of hot glue, i wonder if the low strength is low temperature as well.

and for sanding up, maybe make one of your extrusions for the sanding block.
