: : I'm up to the stage where I glass, I've had a couple of different reading sources that approach the process differently, Nick's does a sealer coat then glassing and others go right to glassing what's the difference. What do I get to thion out the MAS system that I got with Nick's kit? Also any tips on heating a workshop in Alaska? it's my garage here in Sitka, 28X14 with 11' cieling, it's warm enough to work in, but outside it's always 40's and dampuntil summer!
: : I guess I'll have to get a thermometer to accurately measure the heat ands maybe a cieling fan to keep the heat from going upstairs?
: I have a similar problem with my workshop which is
: an unheated barn in upstate New York. Some of the
: manufacturers claim that you can epoxy in
: temperatures as low as 40 degrees by mixing your
: stuff up with fast hardener. Raka and System
: three make this claim.
: I haven't tried this yet,
: and would like to hear from someone who has.
: I am concernedwith whether there are clarity
: problems with the cured coat. Also, if the
: temperature dips down during the cure below
: forty degrees, will it chemically effect the
: epoxy so that it will never cure right, or will
: it just slow it down?
The epoxy will cure eventually no matter what hardener
you use. Mixing fast hardener in will make it in a more
reasonable time. Some epoxies will create clarity problems
when you use fast cure. I have not had problems with Sys-3
or MAS. I recommend the MAS as being easy to use, clear
and low odor.
