sorry i wasnt descriptive enough.
say for example that nicks footbrace was on a continuous loop from a clamp cleat near the seat front to a pulley at the bow. when you cleat the line therefore, it wont move either backwards (much) or forwards.

in its most simplest(and probably less workable) setup, you pull the rest back to the seat, load up the front between the cockpit front and seat front and pull like crazy on the line maybe even jamming the footrest w/ your paddle to your footlength mark(probably clip at least the first bag to the line - say it had a whole bunch of butterfly loops in it from the foot rest to 4feet or so forward.

in its most sophisticated, velcro a hard openable tapered double bag to the front of the footrest. Fill the bag, push forward, blow up second compartment. to return, let out air and pull back on the line at the seat front.

so the idea is that it maybe addresses all the frustrations.

ps altho natural to run the loop on the c/l of the bottom, if it in fact ran along the undereside of the c/l of the deck and maybe popped up thru the deck, you could adjust feet on the fly w/ minor water infiltration and no sprayskirt popping.

and in both cases, maybe best to transverse the footrest at the sheerline for the steering lines to separate possible tangles along the centre.
