I'm going with multiple layers of 3.25 oz satin weave from Raka on my latest plywood (luan) Walrus for my other brother. Inside gets 1 - 2 layers, outside gets 1 - 3. I put the extra layers down the middle, under the cockpit, at the chines, and at the bow and stern on the keel. I did use 3 layers of 3.25, plus one layer of standard weave 6 oz tape at the stern drag spot on the keel. Look at the places that your kayak gets the most wear and reinforce accordingly.
