: g'day mate! It would be a lot of trouble for this application, but my
: grandfather did do this for the mahogany race boats he built. He was quite
: a guy. He raced boats on the Mississippi River. He took a V-12 engine in
: the 1930's and put it in an inboard mahogany boat. Nobody could beat him,
: so he decided to race for show and let the guy who came in second have the
: first place trophy! My kayak is going to be used for a 500+ mile trip down
: the Mississippi River past where my grandfather used to run his boats.
: Thanks for the info. I'm going to keep it for future reference... maybe to
: make a bronze headstone in case I don't make it on my trip!!!
G'day Malcolm,
I agree that it'd be a lot of trouble for just about any application, it'd be a lotta fun though!
I guess the reason I havn't done it myself yet, is because it would be a large undertaking, and considering the way I always seem to cut myself when ever there are sharp objects about, an undertaking that is bound to end in tears (just the thought of a bootfull of molten brass brings a tear to the eye).
Your Grandfather seems like an interesting guy, building a mohogany runabout is also on my to do list, one day, if there's any mohogany left.
Cheers,
Paul
