: Hi All, I'm a frequent lurker on this board and have built 6 different
: Canoes/yaks/boats using various methods.
: Anyway, I'd kind of like to build another kayak this winter. Since I'll be
: doing more nature watching and fishing in sheltered waters ( and vertually
: no open ocean/touring) I'd like to go with a design with a Large cockpit,
: 27-30" beam , 13-15' ( Tops!)) ( Something like a OT LOON 138) So far
: I've found some beautiful plans/kits but they are ALL touring/ocean
: orientated. Can Aanyone help with a sugested source?
: P.S. I'll go strip or Stich N Glue . If I have too, I can crank up Ply Boats
: 2.1 and design one but I'd just as some go w a proven design .
: Thanks in advance for your suggestions and this great site.
It looks like the Little Auk would be close to what you want with a 28" beam and about 12' long. I modified it for my boat (without Nick's permission & I appologized for that--didn't know) for nature watching, camping and fishing. That's the only one I found that the sizes seemed to be about right and it has a big cockpit, about 22" x 36".
