I have a 16 ftr, see link below. Plans were very reasonable. It's a little tricky if you are building your first stripper because of the big tumblehome but that will be true of any solo you would want to build. Plans are for almost a dead straight keel line. I put abt a half inch rocker in the bow. It tracks very straight. I think I would try 1.5 in the bow and 0.5 in stern if I was building it again to give it a little more nimbleness. If you want a workout boat for big water leave it alone. I have had it out in 3 ft whitecaps with abt 30 k wind and it took no water but I had to stay on my toes. As long as you have some forward motion this one will track. 17 ft is a very big solo, unless you have tons of gear might be too big to be fun.
