seam tape

Thanx for the lip pointers....one more question.
How much seam tape do you use? Spidey used a single layer of 6oz 3 inch wide tape, in and out. If I recall Nick's book calls for a 3 (or 4) inch and a 2 inch layer.
Is a single layer sufficient.
