Almost finished. I was able to get away with inserting the cross bars into the oak runners and pinned them with 3" screws through the top of the wood runners. There is no clearance on the back bar as it just touches the roof. I ended up using 1 1/8" outside dia. conduit pipe, painted with auto primer and three coats of thinned rubber tool diping material for a rust free and mar free bars and clips. I still have to drill 1/4" holes at a 45 degree angle for the bolts to fasten the rack to the clips, but the hard work is over. The saddles are Yakima LandShark Saddles and I made a good buy on e-bay for them.

What is the best way to carry a Kayak, right side up or upside down? Thanks.
