I was wondering when someone was going to mention an ice chest for keeping the canned beverages cold, and cup holders.

Seriously, carabiners are good tools. If you line the carabiner with thin cork, held on with contact cement, or use thin self-adhesive foam insulation, then it will not scratch a nice rod, or deck finish and it will not bang against the deck. Coleman is selling some small carabiners under thier brand. They are way too light for rock climbing, but great for holding gear. A pack of 2 was $3.50 at Target.

Campmor has carabiners for about $5 and up, and mini-biners (like the Coleman ones for $2.25 each.
