If you can coat the interior
: surface of the cloth before attaching the skin you would have a stiffer
: material to work with, but the inside would be completely covered.
: applying that stiffer material to the frame you would need to slit it in
: several places to get it to follow the lines of the boat, but these cuts
: could be overlapped and glued with epoxy resin, and reinforced with an
: additional strip of your kevlar and resin.
Paul, if you stretched the fabric over a 4' x 17' loom and epoxied it to the extent necessary to stabilize it, you would have something almost like two sheets of plywood scarfed end to end. You could then cut the stiffened kevlar into pieces and assemble them just like a stitch and glue boat. (or a frameless SOF, sort of) Tape seams and add tubes of green epoxied kevlar (while they're still malleable) for stiffness. Or, one could wrap a Folboat frame with waxed paper, glass it, and then pull the frame out. (might have to cut the outer shell in pieces, but then we'd have a two-piece boat for the traveling people. I like the idea of a frame-less Skin-On-Frame. TNX as always for the inspiration you provide, Paul. TNX, Scotty
