I secured
: the Okoume with thickened epoxy only (no glass) and Be

I'd glass them in. Should help a lot. Can't hurt. Put a bolt in each nut before epoxying. When epoxy cures, just grab the bolt head with vice-grips and back out the bolt. No tapping needed.
